Door handle waste is a common type of separately packaged or mixed packaged non-ferrous metal waste. The main material of door handles is usually zinc alloy or brass. Zinc alloy door handles will be discussed separately in the zinc alloy section.

Common Classification

Mainly classified into brass, zinc, and other metal materials such as stainless steel.

Common Sources

Door handle waste is often collected from household waste, and then gathered in small quantities (tens of kilograms to tons) by small-scale collectors, which are then sold to medium-sized or large-scale recycling facilities. The appearance of these door handle wastes can vary greatly, and their surface, oxidation, and oldness can also differ. There are also industrial brass waste materials that are produced from defective or scrapped products, which have a relatively simple shape.

Value Points

The output proportion of brass door handle waste is not high, as brass has a relatively high material value and is often used in high-quality or luxurious decorations. These un disassembled door handles contain about 40%-50% iron impurities.
To distinguish between brass and zinc alloy door handles, the following aspects can be considered:
1. Weight: Brass door handles are significantly heavier than zinc alloy door handles.
2. Sound: Brass door handles produce a clearer sound when struck, while zinc alloy door handles produce a duller sound.
3. Magnetic Test: Brass door handles are non-magnetic, while zinc alloy door handles have a weak magnetic property.
4. Electric Saw: If the internal color is golden, it is brass; if the internal color is silver-white, it is zinc alloy. If the electric saw does not produce sparks, it is generally brass; if it produces sparks, it is generally zinc alloy.

Processing Methods

Door handle waste often comes from household waste, so it contains a large amount of iron, stainless steel, zinc, and other metal attachments, as well as non-metal attachments such as rubber, plastic, and water stains. Manual disassembly is necessary for door handle waste. For example, the gasket in the valve and the stainless steel connecting head need to be processed by manual disassembly to increase their value and quality.

Detection Methods

Matching Direction

Factories with manual disassembly capabilities.

Special Attention

When trading door handle waste, attention should be paid to the consistency between the photos and actual goods, as well as the consistency between the reported location and the actual delivery location. This is because door handle waste has a large degree of variability, and its price is highly dependent on factors such as photos and location.
