Zorba is a mixed colored metal scrap, mainly composed of aluminum, but also contains other metals such as zinc, brass, copper, and stainless steel. The size of Zorba is generally between 5mm-10mm, and the metal content is relatively high, with a moisture content of around 91%-92%. The copper content is generally not more than 4%.
According to the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), Zorba is defined as: "A mixture of non-ferrous metal scraps, mainly aluminum, including aluminum, copper, lead, magnesium, stainless steel, nickel, tin, and zinc, in elemental or alloy (solid) form. The percentage of each metal in the mixture is determined by negotiation between the buyer and seller. The scraps are obtained through cyclone, air separation, flotation, screening, or other separation technologies, or a combination of these methods. The scraps are then processed to reduce or eliminate free iron and/or large iron impurities. They do not contain radioactive materials, slag, or ash."
When describing Zorba, there is an important way to express its specifications, which is to clarify its metal content and copper content, denoted by "xx/xx". For example, "95/5" means that the scrap contains 95% metal content, and the metal content contains 5% copper (or red metal).
