Heavies

Scrap Wiki

Copper-zinc materials, mainly composed of copper and zinc, are referred to as copper-zinc materials. They are also known as "Heavies" due to their high density, which makes them separable from other materials during gravity separation or flotation. The primary components of copper-zinc materials are copper-based metals, including brass (e.g., copper pipes and copper wires), yellow copper (e.g., various types of broken yellow copper), and insulated copper wires. Other components include zinc, stainless steel, and circuit boards.
