Traction motor

Scrap Wiki

A train motor is a common type of motor scrap, sourced from decommissioned electric locomotives.
Decommissioned train motors come in two types: those with wheels and those without. A distinctive feature of train motors is their large size and square shape. They have a notch on the side for the axle of the wheel. The outer shell is made of cast iron, and there is a heat dissipation opening on the top. The stator winding is rarely seen, mostly in the form of coil packs.
The coil material of train motors is entirely copper, with a total copper content of approximately 7-8% of purple copper.

The train motor has a notch for the wheel axle on the left side, and a heat dissipation opening on the top rear.
