The automotive air conditioning compressor, also known as the automotive clutch, is an essential component in the automotive air conditioning system. It typically consists of an electromagnetic coil, which drives the compressor's clutch when the air conditioning system is activated. The coil produces a magnetic field that attracts the compressor's clutch plate, causing it to engage with the compressor's pulley wheel and drive the compressor.
Automotive repair shops, salvage yards, and some suppliers also extract and sell these compressors separately. Some suppliers even extract and package the high-value copper coils from these compressors for resale.
The automotive air conditioning compressor coil contains approximately 20%+ copper.
