Element Composition:
Aluminum (Al): Main component.
Magnesium (Mg): Main alloying element, typically accounting for 0.8% to 1.2% of the total weight. The addition of magnesium increases the strength and hardness of the alloy.
Silicon (Si): Another main alloying element, typically accounting for 0.4% to 1.5% of the total weight. Silicon combines with magnesium to form magnesium silicide, giving the alloy good mechanical properties.
Copper (Cu), Manganese (Mn), Chromium (Cr), Zinc (Zn), and other trace elements: Typically present in small amounts, either as impurities or as micro-alloying elements to optimize specific properties.
Properties:
Medium Strength: 6000 series aluminum alloys have medium strength, higher than 1000 and 3000 series aluminum alloys but lower than 7000 series aluminum alloys.
Good Corrosion Resistance: Suitable for use in atmospheric and marine environments.
Good Processability: Easy to extrude and process, suitable for various manufacturing processes such as rolling, forging, welding, etc.
Good Weldability: Suitable for various welding methods, with good performance after welding.
Good Toughness and Fatigue Resistance: Performs well in various applications.
