Alucobond

Scrap Wiki

It is an aluminum composite panel, also known as an aluminum-plastic panel. It comprises two outer layers of aluminum alloy and an inner layer of polyethylene, with the aluminum alloy components mainly consisting of 1100 and 3003 aluminum alloys. Due to its lightweight, durable, and aesthetically pleasing characteristics, it is widely favored for both interior and exterior applications in the construction industry. Alucobond scrap primarily consists of aluminum and polyethylene, with the aluminum content ranging from approximately 30% to 40%. This largely depends on the thickness of the aluminum sheets, with aluminum composite panels typically measuring between 3mm and 6mm thick, and the aluminum sheets usually being between 0.1mm and 0.5mm thick. This type of scrap can originate from construction waste, building renovations, or manufacturing leftovers. Aluminum is recyclable, but the disassembly process is more complex due to the need to separate it from the polyethylene core, and it can easily lead to pollution.
Below are images depicting the structure of aluminum composite panels, featuring a "sandwich" structure with aluminum sheets on both sides and a polyethylene core.
